THERE’S SOMETHNG IN THE AIR – AND IT ISN’T PRETTY

Your house is shuttered up tight against the outside elements, but what about the inside elements?  Indoor air pollution levels can rise far beyond outdoor air – even 100 times more polluted!  Problems can include illness-causing microorganisms, allergens and even bad odors.

And running that furnace with no fresh air means dry air and lots of static electricity in your home.  Dry noses, itchy skin and sore throats-especially in the morning – are all signs of too little moisture in the air.  This can also exacerbate allergy and asthma symptoms, not to mention cause splitting in wood floors, furniture, plaster and molding.

Fortunately, there are ways to combat the stale, dry winter air.  First of all, a whole-house humidifier will work wonders by returning moisture to your home.  It is installed directly to your heating and cooling system.  Water is supplied to the distribution tray and then the humidified air is delivered to your whole house via your ductwork.  It’s much more efficient than just having a humidifier running in one room of your home.

There is a way to fight the microorganisms and allergens as well.  Ultraviolet light is nature’s way of controlling airborne microorganisms.  The ozone layer allows just enough UV light from the sun through the atmosphere to keep the air from being overly contaminated with bacteria and viruses.  You can bring UV light into your home to do the same.  An ultraviolet light,  installed in your heating and cooling system, works 24-7 to destroy airborne microorganisms circulating through your air ducts.  Whole house germicidal UV air treatment will also reduce odors and costs no more to run than energy-saving fluorescent light bulbs.

So don’t think you have to put up with bad air in your home this winter.  Live healthier and more comfortably with cleaner, moister, healthier air.

THANK YOU FOR AN INCREDIBLE FIRST YEAR!

Bring It On!

Wow!  2009 was a great year for us.  Even though the economy wasn’t the best, our first year was very good.  When Vance and I started Mountain Air, we felt like customer service was a lost art.  We really wanted to bring it back with Mountain Air Conditioning and Heating.  We hoped that homeowners would see the difference, appreciate it, and become lifetime customers.  Well, after the first full year in business, I’m happy to report that our plan seems to be working.  Of course, we have you, our loyal customers, to thank for that.  So, thank you, thank you, thank you!

We hope 2010 will be a better year with a stonger economy.  We are looking forward to finding new customers who really appreciate good service.  We are so happy to be able to run a company our way – the way my dad taught me – the only “right” way in our opinion.  It’s truly a pleasure to serve you and to know we are doing more than making a living; we’re building a reputation.  We promise in 2010 that we will stick to our guns and live up to our slogan, “Service at a Higher Elevation”.  Besides being a sound business practice (when you treat people right, they’ll come back) it just feels good.

We hope to see you in 2010 and we wish you a prosperous new year!  Thanks again for your business.

Welcome Keith

We’d like to welcome Keith Kiernan to our excellent team of technicians.  Keith brings 17 years of heating and cooling industry experience with him.  He is NATE certified (North American Technician Excellence) in gas furnaces and air conditioners.  He has a geothermal background (using the earth’s heat to warm your home) as well as a NATE certification in Hydronics (using water to heat instead of air).  So no matter what kind of heating or cooling need you may have, Keith can handle it.

Our newest member, Keith Kiernan

Keith graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber State University.  He’s very familiar with the area and the heating and cooling needs of our geographic region.  I’m excited about hiring Keith.  Of course, he’s very talented and educated in the heating and cooling area, but we hired him because he thinks like we do.  He really understands the importance of customer service.  He told me he was very excited about working for Mountain Air because we have a reputation for excellent customer service and he’s proud we chose him.  That makes me feel proud too.  I hope our reputation for excellent customer service continues to spread.  Call us if you have any heating or cooling needs. Give us the opportunity to impress you with our “service at a higher elevation”.  You’ll see it’s not just an advertising slogan…it’s our way of doing business.

Hurry to Get Your Tax Credit This Spring!

Yes, the government tax credit refund of up to $1,500 has been extended through 2010, however, if you’d like to see that credit on your taxes this spring, you’ve only got a few short weeks to act.  If you wait until after December 31st, you will have to wait until spring of 2011 to see that money.

If you’re considering installing a new furnace or air conditioner, you must act now to ensure your installation happens before the end of the year.  With the coming  holidays, there are fewer work days between now and the first of the year, so call us today to make sure we can get you on the schedule.

And don’t forget about the manufacturer rebates of up to $1,000 from York and up to $550 in utility rebates.   It’s a great time to save big.  If you have any questions we can answer, please call us.  We’ll be happy to help.

Why Saying It’s Our First Anniversary Sounds Strange to Us.

Mountain Air Conditioning and Heating is celebrating our first anniversary.  I have to admit, though, it sounds strange to say “first anniversary”.  After having been in the heating and cooling industry for over 20 years, “first anniversary” sounds so wrong.  Twenty-first seems more fitting.  Let me explain.

A brief history is in order here.  My husband, Vance, and I have spent almost our entire lives in this business.  In fact, I used to drive the Barlow Heating and Cooling truck to high school.  My dad, Roger Barlow, established Barlow Company.  Vance joined the company in 1980 and in 1993, Vance and I bought the company from my dad.  In 1998, we sold Barlow to Lennox industries who later acquired  Service Experts so we became Barlow Service Experts.  Vance was the general manager until fall of 2008.

The problem was, the business was slowly being taken over by corporate culture.  Vance and I really didn’t like that style of doing business.  We were used to a personal touch and it just really rubbed us the wrong way.  So we decided to start our own heating and cooling company so we would be able to do things our way – what we were taught our whole lives was the right way.

So, Mountain Air Conditioning and Heating was born.  And here we are at our first anniversary.  We plan to continue to do things our way – by putting our employees and customers first.  We hope as more people hear about us and word gets around, our business will grow.  And if our first year is any indication, we’ll be here for years to come.  Stop in and wish us a happy anniversary if you’re in the area.  We’re in Roy, Utah at 1805 W. Riverdale Rd.  We’d love to see you!
